Venagadam (Prakash Raj) is a weaver of exquisite silk saris, garments that he could never afford on his meager salary. When his daughter is born, he promises she'll have one for her wedding. Each day, he smuggles a single thread past the factory's security guards. As his plan unfolds, a friend indoctrinates Venagadam in communism, an ideology perfectly suited to his life, his work and the vow he made to his daughter.
