Little House on the Prairie: While out of town for some business on the purchase of new horses for his farm, Charles spends increasing amounts of time with the Harpers. The family patriarch is an emotionally unstable man who--in the wake of his oldest son's death--uses alcohol to relieve his anguish. His wife and children find solace in Charles' kind friendship, and the two youngsters--who are enthralled by Charles' faith-centered demeanor and lonely for their father-- believe that Charles is just the one to help rebuild their pain-stricken family.
